Job Description

We’re looking for a talented, word-wise UX Writer to join our highly collaborative product team, supporting products with high exposure. You will be a key point person for brand and content within the product team, working in lockstep with teams to influence product development, from copy creation and refinement to catching a typo right before a launch. Part of your role will be developing the UX writing framework and liaising between product, legal, UX and marketing to drive consistency across external touchpoints.

This role excels at writing, editing, and collaboration, always striving to understand our customer through data, and create the most intuitive, delightful experience on their behalf. The UX writer also needs to be adept at balancing personality and function in their approach to create a cohesive, unified experience that helps humanize the brand across every touchpoint.

Key job responsibilities

  • Work to define, test and iterate UI copy across a variety of touchpoints and areas of the customer experience
  • Work to test and validate that content is clear and memorable.
  • Develop writing tools and frameworks based user research and brand guidelines
  • Set a scalable copy standard, and drive adherence to writing best practices based on industry standards, internal learnings, branding guidelines, research and data.
  • Act as a conduit between Product, UX, Legal and Marketing from a copy perspective to drive workflow efficiencies and consistency.

A day in the life

You will collaborate across teams to dream up and rethink our customer experiences. No one day will be the same, you will be responsible for launch items such as packaging content, onboarding flows, and help content, and well as ongoing improvements across already launched experiences.

  • 6+ years of design experience
  • An available online portfolio
  • Experience creating copy systems, guides and frameworks
  • Experience working within both apps and web experiences

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with remote teams and an international audience
  • Own, develop and evangelize copy guidelines and tone of voice
  • Experience driving programs related to online content strategy, content delivery tools, content taxonomy and classification, and/or the user experience with content.
  • Strong bias for action in a fast-paced, metric-driven environment
  • Self-motivated team player, with refined and assertive leadership skills.
  • The ability to influence others to set and achieve goals and deadlines.

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $120,000-$160,000/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the Colorado Equal Pay Act. Base pay information is based on market location. Applicants should apply via Amazon’s internal or external careers site.
