Job Description

Location: Hybrid working from our office near Spitalfields or at home

Everyone deserves a job they love. At Makers, we retrain people as software developers and kickstart their careers by placing them in tech teams across the UK.

You deserve a job you love, and we’ve got one for you.

The ideal candidate will be great at juggling multiple projects to meet fast deadlines. Since we typically run a lot of physical events, you need to be based in the UK even though this will largely be a remote role for the time being.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will be working on a range of content and campaign production projects and also have responsibility for managing marketing content to drive interest, awareness and support our growth. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact as part of a team in a fast-paced but friendly environment.

You will be liaising with design, video production and PR agencies on creating a full suite of content across multiple audiences and platforms. You’ll also be producing written content yourself as well as choosing which stories from the Makers community we highlight and amplify across our channels, in line with the goals provided by the Marketing team leadership.

Overall, you’ll be supporting the marketing team to transform lives in the tech space through digital, events and community marketing.

What Success Looks Like

  • You’ll share and shape the voice of the community, which is set by our Head of Marketing. This means you’ll manage the community blog, which involves an editorial role – you’ll be the one choosing submissions, creating new content, and liaising with contributors.
  • You’ll develop and produce a broad range of marketing materials and assets for specific target audiences, such as newsletters and email campaigns, in partnership with our graphic designer and marketing team;
  • You’ll keep our marketing materials such as brochures and web pages updated with the latest information from various teams;
  • You’ll support our Digital Marketing Lead with campaign design and deployment
  • You’ll support our Events Lead with event write-ups and content, as well as assisting in content and design for various teams across the business;
  • You’ll contribute to and develop insights on content metrics on a weekly dashboard;
  • You’ll manage organic social media content creation and delivery across Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter and Instagram;
  • As you can see from the above, you’ll have a lot to juggle! So you’ll need impeccable time and project management skills.

Who We’re Looking For

At Makers, we want everyone in the team to:

  • Connect to our mission – Excited about our mission at Makers to change lives, and helping create an environment where our team can do their best work and thrive.
  • Have a growth mindset – You love learning, are open to new opinions and approaches, and enjoy continuously developing yourself and others.
  • Prioritise joy – You care about others and are able to empathise, communicate effectively, overcome challenges and help create a supportive and joyful place to work.
  • Value trust over fear – You value trust in your working relationships and are able to work in an environment that values transparency, open feedback, clear communication, and challenging the status quo as key foundations.

For the Content & Campaign Manager role, we’re looking for someone who has:

  • Experience in developing and executing inbound marketing strategies using HubSpot or a comparable sales & marketing automation platform
  • Strong communication, creative and editing skills, with great spelling and grammar skills
  • Experience in producing engaging content and managing this across various digital platforms
  • Understanding of different content types and how they can be used for lead generation
  • Understanding of SEO and how to write for search engines
  • Experience in using WordPress and social media sites
  • The ability to learn fast, take the initiative, and work independently as well as contribute to the team
  • A passion for learning more about digital marketing.

However, if you don’t have all of the above – don’t let that stop you. What’s more important is that you’re an excellent project manager, who can demonstrate a passion for the opportunity and the ability to channel the voice of our community through video, on our blog, email and social channels.

Why You’ll Love Working at Makers

At Makers we’re proud of our environment which is built on trust over fear with a core mission to transform lives. We value growing as a person by learning transparency, vulnerability, the growth mindset, emotional intelligence, perhaps some hard truths about yourself, and how to give and receive feedback honestly and productively.

We care about being surrounded by a diverse group of bright, motivated people, who all really care about doing the very best they can for our students, for our hiring partners, and for each other.

Our Benefits & Perks

  • We have a minimum holiday policy, rather than a maximum. We encourage our team to take at least 30 days a year (excluding UK Bank Holidays), including a Winter and Spring break when we shut down between late December and January, and mid year for a week. The whole company takes a break, so you’ll have peace of mind in knowing that nobody is working, not just you.
  • We embrace holistic health at Makers, where mental health matters and is just as important as physical health, which is why we offer unlimited fully paid wellness leave from day 1.
  • Private Medical Insurance (after you’ve been with us at least 3 months);
  • £500 Learning & Development allowance per annum and paid time off dedicated to your training & learning;
  • Fully hybrid working from our office located near Spitalfields or at home;
  • Join twice-weekly yoga and daily meditation sessions run for the staff and students;
  • 20% discount on classes & treatments at Triyoga studies across London;
  • Company pension contributions;
  • Enhanced parental pay & leave – up to 20 weeks fully paid maternity leave, up to 8 weeks fully paid paternity & secondary caregiver leave, and up to 20 weeks fully paid adoption leave.
  • Access to a Perks at Work account which provides access to a range of shopping and other leisure discounts;

We’re building a working environment (and recruitment process) where everyone feels welcome and included – we know we can do a lot better, and we’re committed to learning what more we can do to improve. If reading this job description has given you any doubt about whether you’d feel welcome or included at Makers, first, we’re sorry; and second, we’d really like to hear from you about it, so we don’t do it again.
